I went through a process of drawing and painting on a large sheet of paper. The intention was to break out of the confinement of a stretched canvas and go larger and looser. With each iteration, the image was becoming more complex and interesting.

I went through 3 iterations:
1. a series of 9 mixed media drawings
2. one long image with elements of collage using iteration one.
3. A colage using iteration 2, to which I later added more drawing and painting marks.

All images were intuitive and experimental. Without having a set outcome in mind, but letting it just "flow out of my subconscious."

Going through this process allowed me to refine my marks, experiment with shape and colour, and feel into the broad gesture in a work this large.
